Borrowers

Posted on August 18th, 2010 by Lindsay under Uncategorized.

Weird things happen around my house all the time. Things go missing, items turn up. We write it off as having borrowers. These borrowers seem to have been with my mother for some time as even things lost in houses across the country have randomly appeared in totally random places like the middle of my made up bed. That particular item was a special blue hairbrush that she had in Georgia, I think, which later came into my possession in Maryland.

Today the borrowers laid out a special treat for me.

Found

I spent some time at home today and upon one trip coming out of my laundry room I found this pattern neatly laying in the middle of a table in the studio. I asked my mom if she had found it and she had no clue what I was talking about. I have searched and searched and searched for this damn thing as I had hoped to finish the knitting on my last trip to Bristol. I will not question its return and am very pleased to be resume progress.

Tonight is my last night at the hotel and I’m beginning to get a wee bit nervous. My progress today was remarkable as far as feeling better and getting around go, but dear God do those beasties get excited to be around me. Given the cats dexterity, Dylan and Riley’s knack for trickery and Monte’s brute force, it’s going to be nearly impossible to safely segregate myself from the ani-pals when needed. Another concern is that I became supremely congested today after spending awhile in my office today. I don’t know if it was in response to the fur and other assorted mess that’s in there or if it was just something that happened. The stuffiness did subside, though,l when I returned to the hotel. I’ll be quite active tomorrow as well because I’m having furniture delivered Thursday and need to get the floors cleared and the areas where the pieces will go prepared. I did a lot of prep work before my surgery so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the remaining work won’t prove too much for me.

Now to pack up a little and perhaps a few more rows on the Traveling Sweater.

Not a Great Day for Photography

I finished my Shawl That Jazz last night/this morning at about 5am. I love it and was amused to find that it matches my “naturally colorful” (beat-up) face.

Please excuse the fact that I look like hell warmed over. I’ve found during the past few days that my ability to really not give a damn what I look like when I go out sometimes is both great and terrible. For my benefit, I feel no need to hide in my room and not let anyone see me. In fact, beyond not caring that I look awful I think it’s kind of fun that my face is all wonky. I wouldn’t opt for this look all the time, but for the sake of novelty. why not have a purple and green face? I realized today that I need to moderate it at least some when I returned from a trip to the craft store and found that my nose was covered in crusted blood and I had a little bit of ooze going on. Not a good look and I bet that the strangers who have to be near me in public probably don’t want to be forced into my current world of facial gore.

But I digress….

I knit a fair sized ruffle on this and am really digging how it came out. I did no decreases and knit for about 3 inches or so.

A great accessory.

I’m sure this will get a lot of wear in the coming fall and winter. I’m already planning on knitting the smaller version, A Little Jazz, probably in some Treehugger LSS. Yum. Details for this one~

Pattern: Shawl That Jazz by Samantha Roshak
Yarn: BMFA BFL Sport in The Claw
Needles: I think a US 9
Mods: As I said, I did the extra ruffly version.

I plan on getting some better pictures of it later on when I’m not horrid and I have my actual camera rather than a cell phone and fluorescent hotel bathroom lighting.

Today I’ve been much more mobile but as the night wears on I’m becoming more and more sore. I did a lot today, including hitting the salon to have my hair washed. You might notice in the above pictures that it had become noticeably disgusting and I was quite pleased to see that I could handle the chair at the shampoo station.

Other than that my day has consisted mostly of laying in bed knitting and watching Dirty Jobs.

I’m loving this colorway (Slayer) though I’m so bored with stockinette socks. I really wish I had cast on for Movie Night Socks with it instead. Maybe the next pair.

Speaking of movie nights, I think I’m going to go check out what’s playing on this pay-per-view. I may as well make the most of my last 2 hotel nights.

ttfn!
